You’re choosing a life together. Give yourselves time to talk about what that life will look like.

Wedding planning creates plenty of decisions about one day. Preparing for marriage makes space for the everyday questions: How will we handle money? Share responsibilities? Navigate disagreements? Make decisions about family, intimacy, and our future?

You don’t need to be struggling to benefit from these conversations. Premarital education helps you understand each other more deeply and build skills you can return to throughout your marriage.

I’m developing PREPARE/ENRICH premarital education for individual couples and small groups, with planned online and Sacramento-area options.

Make space for the conversations that matter

Even couples who know each other well can carry different expectations into marriage. Some are easy to discuss. Others haven’t come up yet or feel difficult to put into words.

Using a personalized relationship assessment and guided exercises, we’ll explore your strengths, identify areas for growth, and practice talking about the topics that shape life together.

What you’ll explore

• Communication: Express your needs clearly and listen with greater understanding.

• Conflict: Recognize your patterns and practice working through disagreements constructively.

• Money: Discuss spending, saving, financial responsibilities, and shared goals.

• Intimacy and affection: Talk about expectations and what helps each of you feel connected.

• Everyday partnership: Explore roles, responsibilities, and how you’ll share the work of daily life.

• Family and boundaries: Discuss relationships with relatives, traditions, and outside expectations.

• Your future: Explore values, career goals, and expectations about children and family life.

The goal is to begin marriage with clearer expectations, a deeper understanding of each other, and practical relationship skills.

Individual couple education

A personalized format for the two of you, guided by your assessment results. Make space for your questions and focus on the topics most relevant to your relationship.

Small-group premarital workshop

Learn alongside other couples through teaching and guided exercises with your partner. The planned workshop will combine shared learning with opportunities to understand your own relationship.

A welcoming, nonreligious approach

This offering is intended to provide premarital education without religious instruction or requirements. Your own values and beliefs are welcome in the conversations.

LGBTQ+ couples, interfaith couples, and couples of all backgrounds are welcome, including those preparing for remarriage. You don’t need a wedding date to begin preparing for your future together.
